Mission
The purpose of the Howard University Alumni Association shall be to promote the University as an institution of academic excellence and to create and maintain an environment that encourages alumni participation through volunteerism and financial support. To promote closer fellowship among the alumni, our community and our student body. To keep the greater NYC area alumni informed concerning their alma mater, its problems, needs, plans and its progress towards the realization of its goals. Our purpose is to recruit students to Howard University and to assist in establishing scholarship programs for students at Howard University.
Vision
The vision for HUAA is to enhance the alumni experience by providing a ‘concierge service’ to our members. When alumni have questions, we want them to think of HUAA for their answers. Providing assistance and solutions to their inquiries allows HUAA to further engage them in meaningful conversation about their participation, or lack thereof, with HUAA. By working together we can fulfill Alma Mater’s mission and motto of providing Truth and Service to the alumni community. Our goal is to build partnerships and provide programming centered on a HUAA “Lifestyle.”
History
The Howard University Alumni Club of Greater New York City (HUAC of GNYC) has been organized to assist in implementing the goals and purposes of the Howard University Alumni Association. The HUAC-GNYC was created to:
Promote Howard University as an institution of academic excellence and to create and maintain an environment that encourages alumni participation through volunteerism and financial support for the University.
Promote closer fellowship among the alumni, our community and the current student body.
Establish a medium for serving and supporting the University in the advancement of higher education.
Keep the Greater New York City area alumni informed concerning their alma mater, its problems, needs and its progress toward the realization of its goals.
Recruit students to Howard University.
Assist in establishing scholarship programs for students at Howard University.
